We are bombarded by digital communication. Email, chat, and instant messaging is quickly being joined by blogs, twitter, and social networking sites. Efforts is a project for proposing how to organize digital communication by topic, project, and person.

One of the considerations is how much the sender is meaning to interact with you. People are different, so the same type of communication might find itself at any level.

1. You should read and possibly respond.
2. You should at least skim.
3. It's just passive communication and is probably publicly accessible.

Certain communications become more important if they pertain to a topic you're interested in. For instance, you have a friend with blog which you don't normally read, but it would be nice to be alerted if he mentions your name.
