Ashtown: culture
everyday magic
  • ovens run by small fire elementals
  • answering machines using air elementals in stones
    • gems light up to show messages
    • they can be big or fit in ear
  • mirrors act as clairvoyance beyond the portals
    • can't be detected
Ashtown's weather
  • The lake of ash is hot.
    • It makes living near it uncomfortable.
    • It's definitely too hot to swim in.
  • There are occasional ash storms.
  • Fire monsters come out of the lake sometimes.
    • You see bubbles before they appear.
    • There are wizards who keep watch and destroy the monsters.
city architecture
  • There are lines carved into the streets, like a sundial, which citizens use to tell the date and time.
  • All the taller buildings have lightning rods, which are usually struck once or twice a day.
  • Buildings by the lake are built with grey and black bricks while the mansions on the hill use more obsidian.
founding of Ashtown
  • All citizens of Ashtown appreciate the sacrifices of their founders.
    • The founders managed to bring their children to Ashtown, but no adults survived.
    • Without their parents' cultures, the children had to create their own.
    • To this day, citizens of all ages refer to themselves as the "children of Ashtown".
